Want better wellness insights? Put a ring on it. Wearable fitness devices allow users to take a closer (and more accurate) look at their own health, tracking everything from steps to sleep. You might already be familiar with smart watches and heart monitors, but smart rings are a more discreet way to log your data throughout the day. Although they may look like regular rings, they actually use sensors to track your steps, sleep, heart rate, body temperature, and other vitals without you even noticing.

Fitness rings come packed with hyper-specific data that can inform your rest and recovery regimens — great for athletes and gym-goers looking to improve their routines. Plus, smart rings are far less bulky than traditional smart watches and fitness trackers. Another major plus? Smart rings don't need to be charged daily, extending your access to daily statistics without interruption.

Speaking from personal experience, I've worn an Oura Ring for close to two years and constantly forget it's even on. I've worn it while working out, showering, dancing, sleeping, and traveling, and I can say it's been one of the best decisions I've ever made for my health.

Whether you're looking to prioritize fitness, learn more about yourself, or make healthier choices in 2025, the smart ring is the way to go. Ahead, we rounded up the four best smart rings to consider investing in this year, according to PS editors and verified shoppers.

Best Budget-Friendly Smart Ring

RingConn Gen 2, Future Silver ($299)

Comfort is king when it comes to smart rings. You want it to be secure on the finger but not so tight that you have trouble removing it. Like many other ring manufacturers, RingConn offers a free sizing kit to test the size before you make your final purchase. This ensures you'll receive your perfect fit. The wearable is available in silver, black, and gold and has a seven-day battery life. The best thing about RingConn is the free access to all your metrics — heart rate, blood oxygen, sleep, stress, and activity tracking — sans a subscription. "This is extremely accurate," one reviewer wrote. "I have tested things like SPO, blood pressure, and sleep apnea with medical devices, and the ring works. It is convenient and looks like a standard ring."

Best Overall Smart Ring

Oura Ring 4, Silver ($346)

The Oura Ring is one of the most popular smart rings on the market. The Finnish brand offers six different colors (although these affect the price) and various sizes to ensure the perfect fit. Some of the Oura Ring 4's best features include improved sensor technology for more accurate data, skin temperature sensors that can detect when you're sick or drinking alcohol, resilience scores that measure how well you bounce back from intense workouts, menstrual cycle insights, and meal logging. Beyond these insights, Oura is perhaps best known for its exceptional sleep tracking. It displays your HRV balance, temperature changes while sleeping, blood oxygen levels, and the duration of each sleep stage. Just note that these features come at a cost. There's an annual $70 subscription fee (or $6 a month) to access the Oura app, where all of your data is stored. Still, it just might be worth the investment. "It's comfortable and easy to wear — you receive a kit to try on different sized rings to find your perfect match," our editor wrote in her full review. "The ring also tracks patterns over time, so you get a good sense of your typical heart rate, calorie burn, and sleep patterns. If you want to make a change, it becomes that much easier to pinpoint the problem with the Oura Ring."

Best Smart Ring For Athletes

Ultrahuman Ring Air, Raw Titanium ($349)

The Ultrahuman Ring Air is quite possibly the best ring for fitness enthusiasts. Although you need to manually record workouts before starting, the ring will notify you during or after an activity with tips on how to maintain your energy level or how best to recover (like reminding you to stretch your legs to relieve tension from your morning run). The app also offers AI insights into the nutrition of the food you eat — great for those training for a marathon, big sports event, or looking to achieve major goals this year. The app also has a discover tab where you can find guided workouts like HIIT, yoga, Pilates, and more. Like Oura, you can sync all your data to other workout apps (like Strava) to keep all your activities in one place. Fans of Ultrahuman also praise the material of the ring, calling it tarnish- and scratch-free. The cherry on top? This ring is not subscription-based. "The app is a standout feature, with a sleek and intuitive interface that makes it a joy to navigate," one shopper wrote. "I've noticed a significant improvement in my energy levels and overall well-being since I started wearing the ring as I am paying attention to the metrics and changing my lifestyle."

Best Technology-Forward Smart Ring

Best Technology-Forward Smart Ring

Samsung Galaxy Ring, Gold ($400)

Leave it to Samsung to create one of the most innovative smart rings on the market. This ring comes in three different finishes: gold, silver, or black. Like all the rings on the list, it does a phenomenal job at sleep and activity tracking, but really wins with its AI-driven algorithm that helps determine lifestyle patterns (including a snoring analysis, respiratory rate tracking, and more).

The one potential drawback is that the Galaxy Ring is only compatible with Androids. However, this is also a major pro for Android users, as you can see all data collected in the master Samsung Health app. You can also record workouts on a Samsung Galaxy smartwatch or log sleep on the smart ring and see all your data stored together in the parent app. We also have to mention the clear charging case that comes with the Ring — it even has an LED displaying how much battery life is left. "Samsung's option is a similar size to the Oura ring, but has a subtly concave design that I think makes it look less bulky (and therefore more inconspicuous)," our editor wrote in her full review. "Another feature I enjoyed was the Galaxy Ring's stress level tracking. You can see the peaks and valleys of stress throughout the day, which seemed to pretty much perfectly align with when I was up against a deadline or in a crowded grocery store line."
